So, now you are on social media, congratulations! You are now one step closer to putting your music out there.
What the heck should you post about? Your music? But aren’t you going to run out of material if you post it all the time? And won’t people get annoyed?
Truth is… you will not run out of material if you do what you are best at and let people in on your process.
People are curious and want to know what you do and what drives you, so let them in. And if you do not want people to know every little detail, that is okay because you are in control of what you post.
So, let’s find out ways to improve the way you post and make sure your future fans know about you.
#1 Add pictures of you! Your food and pets are interesting, don’t get me wrong, but people want to see you, the human behind the music! Also, the way algorithms work nowadays, makes it that photos of humans are detected and get more exposure. Bonus points if it’s a selfie!
#2 Get your hashtags right! Most people don’t understand what hashtags are work and even less how to use them properly. Hashtags link your post to other similar posts so, your post visibility increases by ten-fold. Choose between five and ten hashtags that relate to your post theme and make sure the number of uses is under 100,000.
#3 Write a captivating caption. Attention spans are short so get your point across quickly. Your caption should be relevant to your picture, attention grabbing, and engaging. Ask a question and get people involved.
#4 Plan your posts ahead of time. I have been actively posting for the past five years. Nothing annoys me more than waking up one morning and wasting time to figure out what I should post. So, save time on our morning routine by planning your content ahead of time.
#5 Don’t just post. For this last tip, I want you to set aside 30 minutes of your day to interact on social media. You can do that whenever in your day, but take the time to interact with people, like other posts, and network in your industry.
That’s it! With these five tips you can now post like a pro and feel more confident about you and your music.
